My name is Judith and I have two fabulous daughters – Sarah-Louise and Heather. They have shared my interests and supported me with this business. I live in Christchurch but have also lived in Dunedin and Hamilton.
I have had two constants in my life dancing and sewing and have supplemented my income through both of these at various times.
I started dancing at the age of 5 and have been involved in many different forms of dance since – ballet, rhythmic gymnastics, modern, jazz, tap, musical theatre, ballroom dance, Latin American and recently pole and aerial hoop (lyra). I have performed, competed, and taught, I have been a dance mum and spectator so am fully versed in all aspects
My mother taught me to sew when I was young and as well as making clothes for myself and my family, I have been an outworker several times and made clothing for my dance school and now make pole and aerial clothing and costumes as Jay Gees.
While I have not received any formal training in sewing and design, I have developed my own techniques and styles. Combined with my personal knowledge of requirements for movement and performance of aerials I am able to meet individual needs for training and performance wear.
Currently sewing for Jay Gees is my weekend job (often evenings as well) and I really enjoy making items that express an individual’s character rather producing look alike clothing.
I have had the privilege of performing a trio pole routine with both my daughters and a double lyra routine with Heather.
I am having a larger significant birthday this year and my body is not as good as it used to be. I still love learning & continuing to work on lyra skills and some flexibility training.
Sewing is a real passion for me and I hope that my business will continue to grow.
